electricity distribution fieldwork

In a speaking English lesson, my student S. describes his job as an electricity distribution investment and fieldwork manager in Istanbul, Turkey. Fill in the blanks with vocabulary:

We __________ electricity distribution services in Turkey. We __________ uninterrupted energy in the grid and __________ technical quality __________ . We __________ new infrastructure and __________ equipment, and materials: field operations __________ the __________ of the grid and the __________ of cables, transformers, circuit breakers, and so on. We __________ electricity to the subscribers' meters, which __________ energy __________ and __________ to the grid. Maybe in the future, subscribers with solar panels can __________ electricity to the grid. However, the current infrastructure in Turkey is not enough to __________ the imbalance of solar panel on the grid. If there are a lot of solar panels working at full capacity on sunny days, it changes the balance on the grid.

As an electricity investment manager, I __________ to the people who __________ me how to __________ projects in the field. I __________ the __________ of equipment and materials for fieldwork. Here is what S. actually says in the English lesson:

We provide electricity distribution services in Turkey. We ensure uninterrupted energy in the grid and provide technical quality control. We invest in new infrastructure and set up equipment, and materials: field operations include the maintenance of the grid and the repair of cables, transformers, circuit breakers, and so on. We deliver electricity to the subscribers' meters, which measure energy use from and contribution to the grid. Maybe in the future, subscribers with solar panels can contribute electricity to the grid. However, the current infrastructure in Turkey is not enough to handle the imbalance of solar panel on the grid. If there are a lot of solar panels working at full capacity on sunny days, it changes the balance on the grid.

As an electricity investment manager, I explain to the people who report to me how to perform projects in the field. I specify the procurement of equipment and materials for fieldwork. We want the subcontractors to follow our guidelines to be safe. For example, we replace broken and worn out equipment. We replace the uninsulated wires with insulated ones: as metal is conductive, people get electrocuted if they touch uninsulated cables. I manage the replacement of overhead cables with underground ones. Overhead cables are not as secure as underground ones. Municipalities dislike overhead cables because they don't want to see electrical equipment above ground. If we replace overhead cables with underground ones, then people can't consume electricity off the grid without paying. As I had completely fulfilled my responsibilities, I got promoted.

This week a government investigator will come to evaluate the company. First, we can perform an internal audit to prepare for the external audit.
